I have learned a lot in implementing a small VoIP network at home, and am thinking of starting VoIP business in my area. I've found that video conversations really do improve the quality of conversation. It forces both parties to not multi-task during the call, because your focused on the other party and their non-verbal communication during the call. Try checking your email.... busted! Many companies are using the video capabilities of their conferencing software now. Even MS Communicator and LiveMeeting have basic conferencing capabilities. People that want to do more than point-to-point communication may want to check out ooVoo or other services that will show up to 6 participants simultaneously (and it's cheap, too!) The largest downside so far: I can't do all my morning calls in my pj's :) I’ve been a remote employee for nearly two years now.
